After having sparked a huge controversy in Pakistan with his comments on the Indian fans, Pakistan T20 captain Shahid Afridi cleared the air on his official Facebook page.
"If we demanded peace instead of another television set, then there would be peace in the world. Alas some journalists are born to deliberately misinterpret an innocent statement. Be positive, be true!" the flamboyant Afridi wrote on his official Facebook page.
Afridi was criticized in Pakistan by their fans and some of the former cricketing greats, including Javed Miandad, for his comments that the Pakistan team is loved more in India than in Pakistan.
Miandad even said that Afridi should be "ashamed of himself" for giving such comments in India.
However, Imran Khan, Pakistan's 1992 World Cup-winning captain, came to Afrifdi's defence on Monday.
"The players get emotional sometimes. He gets a good reception in India and he was just expressing his feelings," Khan said.
The Pakistan team is in India now to play in the World T20 Championships. The Super10 stage of the championship will start today with hosts India taking on New Zealand (6pm, UAE Time) in their first match.
Pakistan will begin their own campaign against qualifiers Bangladesh in Kolkata on Wednesday.
The Pakistani fans will hope that the team has now put the controversy behind them now to focus on their job on the field.
