40 teams for UAE Exchange cricket

ABU DHABI - 40 team will be participating in the UAE Exchange 20 over cricket tournament under the auspices of the Abu Dhabi Cricket Council.

The tournament will commence on Friday, December 21. There will be 8 groups, the top two teams from each group will qualify for a knock-out stage. All games shall be held on Fridays. Matches will commence at 8.00 am and 1.30 pm with a total 95 games to be played during the nine weeks.

The winners will be awarded AED 7,500 besides a trophy while the runners-up will get AED 5,000 plus a trophy.

UAE Exchange who are sponsoring the tournament for the 9th year, reflects the commitment of Dr. BR Shetty and Mr. Sudhir Shetty to the cause of promotion and development of the sport of cricket in Abu Dhabi.

Sudhir reiterated the support of UAE Exchange to the cause of cricket and its development in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. "We have always, as a matter of preferred choice, supported not only the Abu Dhabi Cricket Council but also the MCC Zayed Cricket Academy to ensure the game continues to develop and flourish amongst the cricket community and youth," Sudhir said.

Wajahat Husain, president of Abu Dhabi Cricket Council thanked the UAE Exchange for their support to develop the game and encourage teams. "They are in community oriented organisation and have consistently sponsored various sports to the betterment of the youth in the country.

This tournament, with their support shall provide opportunities to cricketers to demonstrate their skills and talents and go on to represent the UAE with honour. I wish the teams success and look forward to the games being played in the best spirit of the game." Hussain added.
