Competitive golf is all set to make comeback in Dubai with a full field of 45 golfers raring to compete in the 2020 JA Summer Classic starting from Tuesday at the JA The Resort Golf Course.
The two-day event will be played over 27 holes in a first of its kind, over three loops 9 hole of the 5863 yards Resort Course Peter Harradine designed layout.
A 3 pm shotgun start will see 18 holes being played on Tuesday afternoon in a Stableford, full handicap allowance format that has attracted entries from throughout the UAE from both men and ladies.
Play will continue on Wednesday with 9 holes with a 7.30 am shotgun start. Play will be in 3 balls under the local sanctioning of the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) and will strictly follow the Covid 19, EGF and Ministry of Youth and Sports Federal Sports Policies.
The event will be a EGF qualifier for handicap.
Stuart McMurdo, Director of Golf at JA The Resort Golf Course said at the publishing of the draw, "We have been overwhelmed by the uptake and interest in our first two-day JA Summer Classic 2020. We even have a healthy wait list! The initiative was designed to highlight the championship standard golf facilities and 9 hole course at JA The Resort."
Rafa Cabrera Bello, JA Resorts & Hotels Global Golf Ambassador and 52nd in the World Golf Ranking, said about the JA Summer Classic, "I am currently in the US playing a number of PGA Tour events. I am aware of the 27-hole, two-day, JA Summer Classic this week. I wish all players the best of luck for this event. I cannot wait to get to come back home to Dubai and seeing so many of my good friends," concluded Rafa.
