The UFC is set to open its first gym in Abu Dhabi – the new home for the combat sport of mixed martial arts. The first branch of UFC GYM, located in Mohamed bin Zayed City, will be inaugurated next month. It will promote a blend of fitness and mixed martial arts programmes for all age groups.

Wissam Abi Nader, UFC GYM director, Middle East Franchising, said: “Abu Dhabi has become a central focus for MMA and UFC over the past few months, and will continue to be the central point for UFC events in the future – making it the ideal location for a new UFC GYM. We’re looking forward to providing people of all ages and fitness levels with our ‘Train Different’ methods, helping them to achieve their individual goals.”

There will be training areas, including strength equipment and cardio area, battle ropes, agility ladders, and large mat areas designed for Brazilian jiu-jitsu and other martial arts training for both youth and adults.

The ground floor will be dedicated to a fully multi-functional freestyle fitness area, where UFC GYM’s signature class Daily Ultimate Training will take place. The first floor will offer Brazilian jiu-jitsu, MMA, boxing, kick-boxing conditioning, fight fit and will be home to a 24-foot Octagon.

The second floor will feature a group exercise and private coaching studio for Zumba, yoga and spinning, barbell conditioning, as well as an extensive range of resistance machines and cardio area. Ladies-only classes will also be available.

“UFC GYM Abu Dhabi curates training programmes that are suitable for all ages and fitness levels, including beginners. Our programmes are developed through exclusive access to the training regimens of internationally-acclaimed UFC athletes, providing members with everything they need for the entire family to move, get fit and lead a healthy lifestyle,” Nader added.

Elite coaches will host daily classes for everyone and offer exclusive youth programmes for children aged 12 and above.
