Around 40 passengers were injured when a Qatar Airways flight hit turbulence before landing in the Philippines.

Flight QR932, from Doha to Manila, was approaching the airport in Manila when it "experienced downdraft and affected passengers who were not wearing a seatbelt", the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines told news site Interaksyon.

The pilot then requested for priority landing citing the injured passengers, the website added.

Three children and two flight attendants were among those injured, Doha News added.

In a statement to Doha News, the airline confirmed the incident, and said: "Of those reporting injury, three were sent to the hospital for further evaluation. They were discharged last night after being provided the necessary medical assistance."

"The safety and well-being of all passengers and crew is our top priority. We remain in touch with affected passengers and crew, and are ready to provide any further assistance required," the airline added.
