Question: Does using the asthma spray break the fast?

Answer: If the spray enters the belly then your fast is broken. Spray is a substance that enters the body and this breaks the fast and obligates one to make up for the fasting process.
If someone who has asthma heals from it, he has to make up for the days he did not fast.
If he has asthma occasionally, he has to make up for the days whenever he is healthy.
But, if his asthma continues till his death, there is no make up nor expiation on him, because he did not break the fast out of negligence.
If the asthma is chronic, the patient should use the spray to take care of his health. However, he has to abstain from doing any fasting violations. Also, he has to give Fidyah (compensation) - food (or the value of it) for one poor person, for every day he does not fast. -
