After an interval of a few days, fog returned to various parts of the UAE on Thursday morning, affecting visibility.

The National Centre for Meteorology (NCM) said fog formation started in various parts of Abu Dhabi early in the morning. It spread to areas including Abu Dhabi International Airport and Mussafa later, affecting visibility.

The Abu Dhabi Police announced reduction of speed limits on major roads until the visibility condition improved.

Speed reduction system activated to 80kmph from Sheikh Zayed Bridge Road to Maktoum Bin Rashid road, Abu Dhabi-Dubai (Khalifa City - Al Smeeh) and Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed International road, the police announced on their Twitter. The police urged motorists to pay attention to the speed limits on electronic display boards for safety.

An NCM forecast for the week predicted further fog or mist formation on Saturday.
