The licence of the surgeon who performed the botched nose surgery on Emirati Rowdha Al Mouaini has been suspended, the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has said.
Three medical practitioners - surgeon, an anaesthetist and an assistant - who worked at First Med Day Surgery Centre in Dubai, were accused of negligence for their part in the failed surgery on April 23. The 25 -year-old woman had checked into the centre for rhinoplasty and suffered a cardiac arrest on the operating table.
Investigative reports stated that her brain had been deprived of oxygen for seven minutes.
The final report of the DHA Higher Commission for Medical Responsibility was submitted to the public prosecution and accordingly, the licence was suspended.
The centre will remain closed, the report noted.
