The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is to develop the arterial university road costing Dh65 million.
Eng Yusuf Saleh Al Suwaihi, member of the Sharjah executive council and Chairman of RTA Sharjah, said they have already assigned a contractor to carry out the critical project.

"The road extending from the square at the south eastern entrance of the Sharjah University City to the square on the road to Al Badeea Palace is to be developed for Dh65 million."
The development work, to kick off by the end of this March, is scheduled to come to an end within 300 days, he stated.
"The project, in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, is to give a boost to infrastructure development programmes."

Explaining, he said that the 5.7km two-way road, passing through the Tariam Emran square and residential areas of Al Jarina, Al Noof, Al Qaraen, and Houshi, is to be entirely renovated.
Asphalt road shoulders and sidewalks are to be added to the road, Al Suwaihi elaborated.
"Service roads, parallel parking spaces, along with pedestrian paths before the already existing buildings are to be added to the road, while the sides of the road are to be decorated with plants."

Recently, RTA Sharjah has inaugurated a new pathway, Dh7.4 million, close to the University City for jogging, walking, and cycling lovers.
"The project, in line with the massive urban growth all over the emirate, is an added value to the visitors of the National Park which is located after the Sharjah International Airport."
The rubber footpath and cycling trail are each 2.2km long and 3m wide, he said. "A middle road island, 2.5m wide, has been built to separate the two passages for safety grounds."
