The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has launched a fleet of 110 new buses at a cost of Dh70 million to make commuting easier for people in the emirate. These buses have been designed to introduce the new categories of Sayer prepaid card.

Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Jarwan, director of the authority for Transportation Affairs, said that the SRTA has developed the new bus fleet to cater to the needs of commuters.

He added that the buses adhere to the latest technical specifications and follow international standards of comfort. They have been produced by the Chinese company, Yutong, and are environment-friendly.

Al Jarwan pointed out that the new buses have all the security and safety requirements, WiFi and mobile chargers. They are also equipped with three surveillance cameras and fire extinguishers. The buses have GPS and remote monitoring system. There's adequate leg space between the seats for the convenience of passengers. Each bus - which can accommodate 39 passengers besides having 26 standing spaces - has a dedicated area for people of determination with hydraulic ramps to assist them and ensure their safety while travelling.

Fahad Abdulrahman Al Awadhi, CEO of KGL Passenger Transport Services, said that the new buses conform to the Euro 5 specifications for carbon emissions.
