As many as 154 awareness campaigns have been rolled out by the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) in the first six months of 2018, to enhance its educational and awareness efforts to spread the legal culture among the community.

The drives included sending out educational messages through 24 awareness campaigns on various social media sites and organising 130 awareness lectures in various places including workers accommodations.

Yousef Saeed Al Abri, under-secretary of the ADJD, said: "Spreading awareness about the law, obedience, workers rights, discipline and the wellbeing among all members of the community is the department's top priority. It is spreading the legal culture in an innovative manner, and conveys awareness messages in a simple manner, thereby guaranteeing a positive impact on individuals and the society."

Dr Salah Khamis Al Junaibi, director of corporate communication and international cooperation department at ADJD, said: "The awareness campaigns - on social media and through lectures in 'Our Councils' meetings and other places - are on various issues affecting the community and aim at promoting legal culture and spreading awareness among the public on their positive role to maintaining the security and development of the nation."

During the last Ramadan, the department ran short films on social media and on various televisions on various topics - child protection against domestic abuse, online bullies, dangers of drugs and the dangers of unlicensed driving for youngsters.

The film 'Your children Amana', showed the importance of parents taking good care of the children and the negative effects of leaving them to housemaids and nannies, films on the loyalty and patriotism, obedience to parents, tips on safety and security and the importance of abiding by the law.

In February, the authorities launched a campaign to teach workers about the UAE laws and their legitimate rights at work so as they are not cheated or mistreated by their employers.

The officials had also organised a legal awareness lecture that was attended by 400 workers of various nationalities in Mussafah where they educated the workers about the need to abide the UAE laws so as to avoid getting into troubles.
