The UAE has detected a “limited number” of cases of the new strain of Covid-19, a top official has said. The affected individuals had come from abroad.
"In light of the emergence of the new strain of the coronavirus in Britain, and in conjunction with the continuous investigations by the health sector, it has been proven that there are limited cases in the country ... received from abroad," said Dr Omar Al Hammadi, the official spokesperson for the UAE Government.
He stressed on the need to adhere to all precautionary measures to stay safe.
This came as he addressed the weekly Covid-19 media briefing on Tuesday.
Last week, Dr Al Hammadi had said that Covid-19 vaccines are likely to work against the new variant of the coronavirus.
