A popular restaurant in the Capital has been shut down for flouting food hygiene rules.
The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (Adafsa) on Thursday said that it issued the decision to close the 'Pasha Egypt Restaurant' located on Defence Street in Abu Dhabi following repeated violations of health and food safety requirements.
The violations included storing food on the floor, dirty and untidy kitchen and not cleaning equipment used in preparing food.
Inspectors also found out that the refrigerator shelves and freezers in the facility had gathered rust due to lack of maintenance.

"The restaurant workers were also leaving cooked food (ready to eat) uncovered at room temperature. Foodstuffs such as ground meat and ribs found at the restaurant didn't have labels," said the authority.
Inspectors from Adafsa had issued three warnings and three violations against the facility during the period from February 10 to September 20, but the restaurant didn't clean up its act. It continued to flout the rules which forced authorities to shut it down.
The authority has confirmed that the administrative closure order will remain in effect until the violations are corrected and the facility fulfils all the necessary food safety requirements to ensure public safety.
