UAE leaders pledge to empower Emiratis

The UAE lit up in red, green, white and black as the country celebrated its 47th National Day on Sunday. The festivities were led by a world-first pan-UAE flypast that saw four of the country's airlines unite to put up a stunning aerial tribute to the late Sheikh Zayed. The country's Rulers and residents were wowed by a plethora of shows organised at the Zayed Sports City Stadium, the venue for this year's official celebrations. The night sky came alive with spectacular fireworks shows across the country.
Even as the country celebrated, its Rulers met to renew their commitment to the Union with "increased integration and coordination".
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, chaired a meeting of the Federal Supreme Council at the Presidential Palace in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates vowed to advance the UAE's development journey by strengthening its federal structures, deepening the spirit of unity, empowering the Emirati people and safeguarding its advancements. The Rulers noted that the UAE had become a role model in spreading the values of tolerance and coexistence both regionally and globally. They reflected on the importance of this year, which saw the successful launch of the first made-in-UAE satellite, KhalifaSat.
