The hospital bid farewell to 2018 with the birth of 15 babies - eight girls and seven boys - on the last day of the year.
Dr Ban Al Chalabi, specialist obstetrics & gynaecology at the hospital, who delivered the first baby of the year, said: "The baby joined the family on this special occasion for all to double the joy of his parents and ours at Danat Al Emarat. Both baby and mother are in good health."
The baby's father, Ahmed Saeed Al Marzooqi, an Emirati, said: "Joining us on the first day of 2019 was a memorable surprise and our joy is now doubled. We named him Khalifa. He weighed 2.8kg and is in good health. It is a blessed year for us all - the Year of Tolerance."
Emirati national Ali Khalfan Al Mansouri also named his baby Khalifa, who was born at 2.12am. Al Mansouri said: "Our newborn is the sixth in the family and we named him Khalifa. He weighed 3.3kg and was due in two days, but joined us today on this very special day. Welcoming our baby today, we have started the year with happiness and blessings on the first day of 2019."
Mariano Gonzalez, CEO of the hospital, said including the 11 babies born on January 1, 10,850 babies have been born at the hospital since October 28, 2015.
