Pecker is a key witness in the case against the former US president, who is accused of falsifying business records to cover up hush-money payment
The General Directorate of Civil Defence in Abu Dhabi has warned residents not to use plugs with loose wiring and cheap cable extensions.
Authorities said a number of fire accidents had been caused by electric cables of poor quality, improper connections, short circuits, and overloading of electric networks.
Also, lack of periodic maintenance of electrical appliances like air-conditioners has long been noted as a fire hazard.
First Lieutenant Mohammed Al Hinai from the civil protection department at the General Directorate of Civil Defence said it is important that residents ensure that electricity is installed by experts using 'approved' cables and devices. Residents have also been advised to avoid random electric connections, which pose 'great danger' because these lack safety measures, especially in summer.
Al Hinai urged families to switch off electric devices when not in use and warn children of the dangers of misusing electrical equipment. He noted that the civil defence team has been carrying out awareness campaigns throughout the year to educate residents, including housewives, domestic workers, children and others about steps to prevent fire accidents at home.
