A man was killed after a car ran him over in Ras Al Khaimah.
The 59-year-old Asian had been riding a bicycle along Hamra Island Road at 8.55am on Monday morning, as per an Emarat Al Youm report.
He had crossed the road without paying attention just as an Arab female driver in her 30s came hurtling from the opposite direction.
Her vehicle struck the man and sent him flying 59 metres from the force of the collision.
He sustained severe injuries and succumbed to them before paramedics could arrive.
The man's body was transferred to the hospital.
Colonel Ahmad Al Deem Al Naqbi called on drivers to exercise caution and abide by traffic rules and regulations.
Bicycle riders should avoid congested areas and follow the rules for their own safety, he added.
