An Iranian man, who killed his compatriot by stabbing him 35 times, has lost his appeal against a life term on Wednesday. Court documents showed the 23-year-old man stabbed the victim at his place in Al Satwa and then turned himself in at the police station.

The defendant frantically stabbed the victim and then went to the Bur Dubai police station, where police officers spotted him screaming: "I killed him. I killed my friend."

The defendant's clothes were covered in blood and he looked injured. The victim's body was found in a pool of blood at the crime scene. "The victim had stab wounds all over his body. The knife used in the murder was found there and seized," a police officer said. "Spatters of blood were everywhere."

The defendant was convicted of a premeditated murder charge by the Court of First Instance in April. The court then sentenced him to life in jail and deportation. The Court of Appeals upheld the primary court's order.

The victim's brother said he received a call from the defendant on March 15, 2014, right after the crime was committed. "He called to say he killed my brother and that he was worried of facing the same fate. I could not understand why he killed him."

A forensic expert's report showed the victim's cuts were deep and caused severe internal bleeding.

The defendant may still challenge the appellate court's ruling within 30 days at the Court of Cassation.
