The Court of First Instance heard that the 40-year-old Filipino woman produced an Emirates ID that belonged to another woman to a security guard on April 9 so that he would let her enter a building to do some cleaning work.
The maid was convicted of charges, including the crime of misusing another woman's personal identification document and working illegally without cancellation of visa. She will be deported after completing her three-month jail term.
The case was registered at Bur Dubai police station.
A Pakistani security guard, 33, said he was on watch when the accused came to the building. "She wanted to get inside to clean some flats. As a routine procedure, I asked her for an ID. She showed me an Emirates ID which bore a photo that looked different from her."
He called the police after she insisted in front of him it was her own ID. She was then taken into custody.
A report from the general directorate of criminal evidence and criminology showed CCTV photos of the maid while entering the building on the incident day.
She admitted during investigation to the charge that she intentionally misused that ID to be able to gain access into the building as she was an illegal resident.
She was then placed in detention.
