Four men were arrested for stealing car batteries in Dubai on Sunday.
The Asian gang would target two areas in specific, Jebel Ali and Qusais industrial areas, during different hours of the day, to carry out their thefts, as per Al Bayan report.
After police received a tip-off regarding the incidents, teams were dispatched to both areas to monitor their movements.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Rashid Al Muaini, head of the crime prevention department for Dubai Police, within hours, the gang had started its round of thefts and began removing car batteries.
Police arrested the gang of men who confessed they would take the batteries and sell them at half price to a workshop owned by someone of their same nationality.
Brigadier Mohamed Rashid bin Sari, deputy director of public and criminal investigation at Dubai Police, said: "We are vigilantly posting teams to fight such crimes and target perpetrators who break the law."
A crime prevention department was established in 2008 which aims to stop such behaviours before they escalate, said Al Muaini.
