The Court of Cassation in Abu Dhabi upheld the decisions by lower courts that handed the sentences to the Asian men after they were found guilty of theft.
Official court documents stated that the men, including the crane operator and the store keeper of a warehouse that belonged to a paper manufacturing company, loaded cartons of toilet tissues on a truck and took them away without the knowledge of the company management. Also, no sales invoice for the items was issued by the cashier or accounts office.
After an internal audit and investigations, the management found out that the two workers had connived in stealing the company products from the warehouse and sold them off.
Public prosecutors had charged the pair with theft.
Both the Abu Dhabi misdemeanors court and the appellant court had earlier ruled that the pair be jailed for six months, pay the legal expenses and be deported.
The men challenged the rulings at Abu Dhabi's top court, which rejected their appeal and maintained the previous rulings.
