A woman was caught hiding 3kg of drugs in six walnuts at Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport. In another case, a man concealed narcotics in the battery of his cell phone trying to sneak in with the drugs.
Drug peddlers are resorting to bizarrely innovative ways to smuggle narcotics into the country.
Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, director-general of Dubai Customs, said smugglers are coming up with new and unexpected techniques. He added that Dubai Customs has managed to foil many attempts to smuggle 14kg of narcotic drugs in the first quarter of this year.

Where they hide the narcotics

*Inside bags full with red lentils
* In toys
* In motor spare parts
* In cell phone batteries
* In nuts and walnuts
* In luggage secret pockets
* In shoes and handbags
* In clothes
* In banana
* In chocolates
* In stomach
* In diesel tanks
* In tyres
* In vehicle secret hideouts
"These were part of 973 seizures of restricted and prohibited goods made at the airport over a period from January 1 to March 31."
Musabih pointed out that the special training given to the inspectors and use of sophisticated scanning devices helped them detect the drugs.
"All our inspectors can identify drug smugglers from among thousands of daily passengers by reading their body language."
Nassir Madani, a senior inspector at Terminal-3, said the items seized at Dubai International Airport include narcotics, weapons, endangered animals and plants, fake money, sorcery tools, drug abuse tools, counterfeit products and jewellery.
"Figures show that Dubai International Airport handled more than 89 million passengers in 2018, and the number is to rise by around 25 million expected visitors during EXPO 2020," Musabih pointed out.
