A real estate worker, who fraudulently received Dh2 million from tenants after issuing them fake lease contracts, has been jailed for three years.
The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court of First Instance found the Arab woman guilty of embezzlement and forgery. The court also fined her Dh150,000 and ordered her deportation.
The woman, who was working as an administrative officer at the real estate company in Abu Dhabi, put her boss' sign on rental contracts issued by the municipality and stamped them.
She gave the contracts to 19 tenants and received more than Dh2 million in rents from them. Instead of handing over the amount to her firm's finance department, she just transferred the cash to her own bank account.
