A man was detained by the police and released on bail after facing trial at the Sharjah Misdemeanor Court for allegedly abusing an employee at Sharjah Police emergency call center 911.
The complainant accused him of abusing a public official.
The accused called the employee and enquired about availability of parking space for a vehicle being driven by a special needs person, the court heard.
The defendant told the court that he saw a special needs man seeking help for parking. He added he tried to assist the person in finding a space to park his car, but in vain. Therefore, he called 911 to enquire about a parking lot, the accused claimed. He averred that he did not mean to insult the employee and was extremely disoriented due to some familial problems when he blurted out those words. The tension caused him to lose his mental balance and his ability to act properly, he said during the hearing, while regretting his bad behaviour.
The court adjourned the case to December 30, when it will hear the testimony of the employee.
The defendant has been released after the judge accepted his bail plea on the condition that he was not being wanted in any other case.
