The auction was attended by Brigadier Pilot Anas Al Matroushi, Deputy Director of the Transports and Rescue Department of the Dubai Police and Dr Arif Abdu Raheem, Deputy Director of the Human Rights Department. The police auctioned the cars based on local order No 34 of the year 2008 regarding impounded cars and bicycles. The Dubai Police had announced the auction in the media a month ago and had informed the vehicle owners more than six month ago to take necessary action to avoid their cars from being auctioned.

The Dubai Police have called upon owners of cars to pay their dues within six months of their cars being seized to prevent their cars from being auctioned.
