Egyptian national Khalid Saeed thought he had lost Dh5,000 after a failed ATM transaction he carried out in Sharjah. Despite receiving an SMS about a 'successful' transaction, he hadn't received the amount. He was pleasantly surprised recently when the Sharjah Police restored the amount to him.

According to the police, Saeed tried to withdraw the amount from the ATM, but was unable to. He left the area, but later received an SMS about a successful transaction. He rushed back to the ATM, but couldn't find the amount.

He registered a complaint at the Buhairah police station. The police reviewed footages from the CCTV camera at the ATM. It emerged that an Asian had entered the ATM after Saeed left. He saw the Dh5,000 there and pocketed it.

The police arrested the Asian suspect and recovered the amount.

Saeed has extended his gratitude to the police for their quick action.
