A six-year-old boy was electrocuted to death at the Al Shamal area in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, on Saturday evening.
Police sources said that the boy was playing close to an electric transformer located in the vicinity of his house when the mishap took place.
The toddler was rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment and medical care but was declared dead on reaching there.
The funeral prayer for the deceased was performed late on Saturday at the Khakhur mosque in Al Shamal area.
The young boy was then buried at the Bin Qarawu cemetery.
Authorities have urged parents and caretakers to never leave children attended. Several toddlers have drowned and have been electrocuted to death in the northern emirate.
"Open electric transmitters pose a grave risk to young children," said Mohammed Ibrahim, an Emirati national.
"Parental negligence is also a major reason behind such deaths," said Hassan Hakam, an Egyptian resident of Ras Al Khaimah.
