Shaikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler's Representative in the Eastern Region and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council, said that Shaikh Zayed had given the order during his current visit to the Eastern Region, because of his keen desire to provide comfortable housing to all citizens and to help them gain additional income through distribution of farms.
He said that the houses would be built in various sectors of Al Ain - 450 in Al Qoa, 100 in Al Arad, 100 in Al Dhahira, 250 in Nima, 100 in Al Faqa and 100 in Aliya.
Shaikh Tahnoun said that Shaikh Zayed had reviewed a full report on agricultural, construction, industrial and tourism development plans in the Eastern Region. He added that the President also inspected progress of work on a number of ongoing projects.
Shaikh Tahnoun said that Shaikh Zayed expressed delight at the progress he saw during the tour, noting that the construction of new houses and service facilities had added to people's happiness over the President's visit.
Meanwhile, Shaikh Zayed's tour yesterday included residential areas in Nima, the Emirates Cement Factory as well as tourist areas of Jebel Hafit, Mubdirat Al Khadra and Ain Al Fayda.
According to Abdullah Hassan Hamarain, Under-Secretary of Al Ain's Municipality and Town Planning, Shaikh Zayed ordered construction of 20 new tourist chalets in Jebel Hafit and cultivation of date palm in Niama and Mubdirat Al Khadra.
He added that work on construction of 1,000 houses in Al Dhahira, Mazid, Umm Ghafa and Northern Yahar areas in accordance with an earlier order of Shaikh Zayed was under way.
