Two Emirati men stranded in Fujairah's Safad mountains over the night were rescued by the police. The two Emiratis were driving around the mountains and had to get off their car to look for the right direction. However, they failed to find their way and worse still, couldn't locate the place where they had halted their car.
Brigadier General Hamid Mohammed Humaid Al-Yamahi, director general of police operations at Fujairah Police, said that they received a call telling them that two people travelling in the mountains of Safad had got stuck and were lost. Following the call, the Al Mariah police station was contacted to initiate a rescue operation. The rescue team and patrol swung into action. They managed to reach the two victims - one aged 34 years and the other 31 - who fortunately were found in good health condition.
The director general urged the public to exercise caution while venturing into mountainous areas and valleys because of the nature of the terrain. He said they should take necessary precautions such as navigational devices which help them know their location and determine the course of the road.
