It isn't just performance and your past track-record that will get you a job in the UAE. Your patience plays an equally important role too!
Reason: After you have applied for a position, the hiring process takes more than 5 weeks on average (around 35.8 days), according to a new report.
A Glassdoor survey indicates that the hiring process in the UAE is one of the slowest across the world, with hiring in India taking less than half of that time.
It takes more than a month for the employers in the UAE to recruit the right candidate. In countries like India, Philippines, United Kingdom, United States, Singapore, Germany, Japan, Spain or Canada, you have to wait less - as compared to the UAE - to get a job after shooting off your CV.
And you need to calmly endure the long waiting phase, before you are recruited - provided you meet all the job requirements.
The quickest hiring is in India, where you can get recruited in only 16.1 days. And the longest is in Brazil, where it can drag on to 39.6 days.
The Glassdoor survey is based on feedback from 84,000 respondents.
"The longer it takes to hire, the greater the productivity loss for employers, And, the longer money is left on the table waiting for potential candidates," said Dr Andrew Chamberlain, Glassdoor's chief economist.
The long hiring process in the UAE is actually a result of the huge number of job applications that may be turning up for any given job - it obviously takes time to sort out, shortlist, screen and interview the available candidates.
So, if you're in the market for a brand new job, here's our 2 fil of advice: Have patience.
