A new kind of museum is opening its doors in Dubai this September.
The Museum of Illusions Dubai will completely redefine what one would call a museum. It guarantees no restriction and instead of encouraging one to be merely a passive participant, the museum will invite you to be an interactive participant of the paintings created by the best artists from around the world.
Unlike more 'classical' museums, visitors to the Museum of Illusions Dubai will be encouraged to interact with the exhibits and take as many photos as they can during their visual, sensual and educational adventure.
Covering every topic of interest for the humankind, the Museum of Illusions is heading to Dubai with its biggest edition yet poised for a September 12, opening at the emirate's Al Seef development located near the Dubai Creek.
The Dubai branch of the muse-um will boast of the largest collection of optical illusions in the Museum of Illusions' worldwide portfolio and will house 80 exhibits of all shapes and sizes.
The Dubai venue will feature the Vortex Tunnel, a rotating cylinder that tricks the brain into thinking the ground under their feet is shifting, as well as the Ames Room, where guests shrink or grow depending on their position in the exhibit.
"Museum of Illusions Dubai exhibits have been carefully selected to ensure the widest possible appeal to the city's uniquely cosmopolitan residents and international tourists," said Varvara Svischeva, manager at the Museum of Illusions Dubai.
"We pride ourselves on being a destination for all ages and this is reflected in the diversity of exhibits and the overall experience.
The tickets for the museum will be priced at Dh80 for adults and Dh60 for children.
"The human brain is an incredibly complex computer that perceives and interprets reality through an elaborate process of gathering information from each of our senses. When engaging with our illusions, the mind will combine some details and exclude others to create a sensory experience that defies logic. It's always incredible seeing the universal human response to Museum of Illusions exhibits - it's the same reactions all over the world," Svischeva said.
Since opening for the first time in the Croatian capital of Zagreb in 2015, six further Museum of Illusions have quickly followed and over half a dozen more are slated for 2018 alone, including Athens, New York, Toronto and Berlin.
"Designed to amuse, amaze and stimulate the senses, each Museum of Illusions offers exhibits based on science, mathematics, biology and psychology. Every Museum of Illusions boasts of physical and optical illusions and a playroom with didactic games and puzzles, while guests are openly encouraged to deviate from traditional museum etiquette," Svischeva  added.
