"How do I know if this is true? This is just too good to be true!" This is how a Dubai resident reacted after a top police officer called him to inform him that he had won a car for good driving.
In a video posted by the Dubai Police on their Twitter account, Major-General Mohammed Saif Al Zafeen, assistant commander-in-chief of the Dubai Police, can be seen dialing one of the winners of their white points system, which rewards motorists who have not committed traffic violations for a whole year.

When the officer tells the winner, American resident Gregory David Christopher, that he had won a car, he reacts with disbelief. The officer asks him whether he'd believe it if he was told he had won a car. The American responds by saying that he wouldn't, as he was "not a lucky person".

Maj-Gen Al Zafeen then goes on to congratulate the resident for his good driving.
Christopher and an Emirati, Shamsa Matar Fairuz Saqr, had won the grand prizes of the white points scheme.
About 2,600 motorists were honoured recently for having zero violations for an entire year and collecting 24 white points each, for the year 2017. They will be presented with gifts and appreciation certificates.
More than 12,000 motorists did not commit any traffic violations last year, it was revealed at the ceremony.
