Man secretly films flatmate naked in Dubai, lands in court

Dubai - He pleaded guilty and apologised when he stood trial at the Dubai Court of Instance.

An administrator has been accused of molesting and breaching the privacy of his flatmate when he secretly filmed her naked in her bedroom, a Dubai court heard on Monday. The 24-year-old Filipina said a compatriot of hers told her that the 38-year-old Filipino administrator filmed her in November when they both shared an apartment.
"I didn't believe him until he showed me the video forwarded to him on WhatsApp by the defendant. He filmed me as I was changing my clothes to get ready for work," the complainant told prosecutors.
She said she shared a room, divided by a wooden partition, with the defendant. "He sneaked the phone underneath the partition and filmed me," she said. "I don't know why he did it as we weren't on bad terms."
Testifying to prosecutors, the defendant's colleague said he showed him the 10-second video. "I didn't know the complainant's number to notify her back then, but I was planning to tell her."
After he informed her, the complainant filed a case on May 28 at the Jebel Ali Police Station.
Prosecutors charged the defendant with molestation and breaching the woman's modesty and privacy. He pleaded guilty and apologised when he stood trial at the Dubai Court of Instance.
