Three people were killed and 44 injured in a horrific collision between a bus and two vehicles in Abu Dhabi on Monday morning.
The incident took place on Al Shawamikh Bridge, heading to Abu Dhabi City.
Brigadier Salem Abdullah bin Barak Al Dhaheri, Abu Dhabi Police traffic director, said that preliminary investigations showed that the cause of the accident was sudden swerving and speeding.

The Central Operations Department received a call of the accident, as residents made their way to work during the dusty weather conditions, at 7.30am. The police and ambulances immediately arrived at the scene and shifted the injured to Al Rahba and Mafraq hospital in the Capital.
Brigadier Al Dhaheri urged motorists to abide by the traffic law and speed limits and to leave sufficient and safe distance between vehicles. He also urged drivers to be cautious when changing lanes and avoid sudden deviation, which was one of the triggers of the major road accident on Monday morning.
The Abu Dhabi Police and traffic authorities also issued warnings on their social media accounts, urging motorists to take extra care on roads, due to low visibility caused by dusty weather across the country.
"The Abu Dhabi Police urge drivers to be cautious due to low visibility during high winds and dust."
The police also urged motorists not to be distracted by taking photos of videos or using phone for the safety of themselves and others on the road."
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said the hazy, dusty weather will at least last until Thursday, and have also sent out warnings to motorists. Moreover, the police said drivers should not park their vehicles near accident sites and stand outside the vehicle when parked on the hard shoulder during an event of an accident.
Recently, authorities issued warnings to the public about crowding around accident sites, which authorities said puts accident victims in greater danger. The Abu Dhabi Police said that 71 people were fined for filming accidents this year alone.
Onlookers filming road accidents and posting images or clips on social media will incur jail term and a fine of up to Dh150,000.
"Such behaviour not only causes a greater danger on the roads, but it could also cause congestion and stop the ambulance services from reaching the accident victims in time to save their lives, because every minute is critical," a police official told Khaleej Times.
