28 deals worth Dh5 billion inked at Idex

A UAE based company, Al Jasoor Heavy Vehicle for ARMA, was awarded a contract worth more than Dh2.4 billion to supply armoured vehicles to the UAE Armed Forces, making it the biggest deal on the third day of the International Defence Exhibition (Idex) in Abu Dhabi.
General Mohammed Al Hassani, the official spokesperson of Idex, announced on Tuesday that the UAE awarded 28 defence and security deals worth Dh4.87 billion to local and international firms.
With this, the total worth of the deals inked in three days of the exhibition hit almost Dh17 billion.
UAE companies received 20 of the deals worth Dh4.3 billion signed on Tuesday.
Other major deals with local firms were a Dh949.9 million contract with Etimad to install a security system for the Critical Infrastructure and Coastal Protection Authority, and a Dh270 million contract with the International Golden Group (IGG) to provide spare parts and maintenance for all units of the UAE Armed Forces.
The Knowledge Point was awarded a Dh105.8 million contract to provide specialised consultations to build and develop the capabilities of the UAE Armed Forces, and a Dh90 million contract was signed with Renk UAE to supply spare parts for Leclerc tanks.
Among the deals with international firms included a Dh152.5 million contract with an American company, Digital Globe to provide space imaging services for the UAE army.
The armed forces also signed a Dh93.7 million contract with a French company, Thales, to buy a Captas-type sonar for the UAE Navy and Dh60.8 million contract with a Pakistani company, Global Industrial and Defence Solutions to purchase ammunition.
Other deals included a contract with the Jordanian centre, King Abdullah for the purchase of Dh64.6 million worth of M D missiles and binoculars for the UAE Armed Forces and Dh53.9 million contract with an American company, Environmental Tectonics to purchase and update equipment and training simulators at the UAE Air Force medical centre.
Idex and Navdex 2019 runs at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec) utill February 21.
