According to a report in Emarat Al Youm, Ahmed Gad Al Rab, who lives in Belgium, returned the full amount without a second thought.
He later took to social media to share the humorous incident and post a photo of the transfer.
Ahmed, who works as a translator, recounted how the office that committed the grave financial error gave him a call a few minutes before he discovered the exorbitant amount in his account.
The office apologised and asked the man to return the money, which the young Egyptian didn’t hesitate to do.
Recounting the incident, Ahmed joked that it was great to be a millionaire for almost 24 hours.
His actions were appreciated by netizens, who commended him for not trying to keep the money he'd received by mistake.
