A large number of jobs are awaiting Filipino expats back home, according to an announcement made by the Department of Labour and Employment (DOLE). The government body said that the jobs will be made available at a job fair taking place in Saudi Arabia, a top workplace destination among overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
"We would be conducting a job fair in Saudi for jobs available in our country and there are 18,000 jobs ready for them here," Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre Bello III was quoted as saying in a Manila Bulletin report.
The report also reveals that it is former senator Manny Villar who is in need of 18,000 skilled workers. The skills needed for the job positions will be discussed by Bello and Villar sometime this week.
The recruitment drive is aimed at displaced Filipino expats in the Gulf country.
