Belhasa unit makes Libya foray

Belhasa Trading and Development, a subsidiary of the Belhasa Group of Companies, has recently opened a branch office in Libyan capital of Tripoli.

“Libya is a promising country with a high potential for any type of businesses such as construction, tourism, telecommunications, oil and gas, energy and power. The country needs as well consumer goods and building material. There are lots of opportunities in Tripoli, that’s why we decide to go ahead and set up a branch office there.” said Samer Malkawi, managing director of the Libyan office of Belhasa Trading and Development.

Belhasa Trading and Development is under the supervision of its director, Saeed Ahmed Belhasa.

“The Belhasa Group of Companies has used its Dubai base to build trading relationships around the world; its companies import from and supply goods and services to most of the world’s major trading nations,” said Dr Ahmed Saif Belhasa, chairman of the Belhasa Group of Companies.

The branch will enter the Libyan market with automobile trading including trucks and buses; specialised vehicles; auto spare parts; construction equipment and machinery trading; oil and gas well maintenance and spare parts; piping; and crude oil storage tanks, among others. Belhasa Trading and Development was established in 1994 in in Dubai. The company started out with sales, service and distribution of commercial vehicles, off-highway equipment and construction machinery, and slowly branched into export. Today, it is one of the major exporters of automobiles and machinery from the UAE to countries in Middle East.

Some of the major exports handled include pick-ups; light-, medium- and heavy-duty trucks; passenger cars and SUVs; minivans and buses; as well as tyres, batteries and accessories.
