“After much deliberation the committee has decided to host this important event on December 27 and 28 this year,” Mohammed Al Kamali Head of organising committee, told media here on Monday.

The annual event that is being held for the past six years under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, is known worldwide in the sporting arena for drawing the footballers and sporting officials to enhance the build-up of professionalism in the UAE and the entire Gulf and Arab regions.

It may be recalled that in April the name of UEFA President and former top French footballer Michel Platini was confirmed during the course of the Globe Soccer Press conference presided over by Dr. Ayesha Al Busmait and Dr Sharif, Vice Chairperson of the organising committee and Conference Director.

This announcement was attended by former England manager Fabio Capello, Italy’s former World Cup captain Fabio Cannavaro, who is now with Al Ahli Club; Abedi Pele, the former skipper of the Ghana national team and former chairman and owner of Torino FC and AS Lazio, Gianmarco Calleri.

“At the Dubai Sports Council we have always endeavoured to bring to Dubai to sustain our name as the sporting capital of the Middle East. This edition is not going to be any different as we have the legendary Michel Platini confirmed to attend. It is such events that can help set the tone of professionalism in the UAE and the region,” noted Al-Kamali.

“So far, we have played host to some of the best sporting names in football during the course of the last six editions of this conference and this year is going to be no different as we continue playing our role in portraying football as the industry it has grown to be,” Al-Kamali added.

Last year, Real Madrid and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo was a huge attraction at the conference while joining other important personalities such as Fabio Capello and Barcelona President Sandro Rosell in discussing various topics under the conference title ‘Football Companies – Current and Future Trends’.
