Indian School-RAK stun Millennium as Winning Champs top

The newly introduced boys under 19 schools category of the 7th Indian Basketball League (IBL), organised by the Indian Basketball Society (IBS), had a great kick start when two keenly contested games kept the turnout in suspense till the final hooter.

In the first fixture Our Own School, Al Wa’arqa beat Dubai Modern High School, 34-30. At half time Our Own led 19-11.

In another encounter, Indian School, Ras Al Khaimah upset The Millennium School, 45-33. At half time Indian School led 21-14.

Moving on to the boys under 13 category, defending champions Winning Champs defeated Emirates National School-Sharjah 42-32 and Nucaf DPS-Dubai defeated Dubai Modern 30-18.

In under 13 girls play, Our Own English High School, Al Wa’arqa defeated Nucaf-DPS Dubai 32-7.

The two-month long IBL sees matches taking place during the weekend in Dubai.

The IBS is a recognised and registered sports body in the UAE with grassroot promotion of the game being the main priority of the coaches and institution sports heads who conduct the championships in various categories.

Our Own English High School-Al Warqa: 32 ( Arya Suresh 10, Reshma Tomy 8, Priyanka 4, Ireme Jacob 4, Jesna Benny 4 and Vaishnavi Krishna 2) beat Nucaf DPS Dubai: 7 (Mrinalini Dorothy 4, Sharon Reji 2 and Priyanka Baskar 1)
