Evergreen, Danube and Dulsco champions

Dubai - Mubashir was named man of the match while Kingsley walked away with the Player of the Tournament for Khaleej Times.

Danube Lions, team Evergreen and Dulsco emerged respective winners of the Gold, Silver and Bronze divisions of the Challengers Cup cricket tournament at the ICC Academy.
In an innovative new twist, both the respective Gold and Silver finalists were expected to play each other in a best-of-three round robin matches. Dulsco, though were spared that gruelling proposition in the Bronze Final, where they showed plenty of pluck to defeat Khaleej Times.
It was a nervy match all the way to the end, after Khaleej Times had been put in to bat first, they managed a total of 39 runs from their eight overs.
Dulsco were composed as they scored at a steady pace throughout their innings to give themselves a score of 44, and the Bronze Division championship. Mubashir was named man of the match while Kingsley walked away with the Player of the Tournament for Khaleej Times.
Coca Cola well aware of the pressures of performing in a final as previous Bronze champions, as they took on Evergreen in the legged final.
They started excellently, beating Evergreen (34) as they put up 66 runs on the board, but then faltered as Evergreen showed great character to roar back with a win of their own in the second.
The decider once again went to the wire as just seven runs separated the two teams.
Although Coca Cola were set a modest total of 40 runs, they started well by scoring 33 runs from their first six overs. With just seven required off the last two, it was here were Evergreen's bowlers finally struck.
They managed to steal three runs of the former's total, leaving Coca Cola with a final score of 33. Rinu's two crucial wickets for Evergreen saw him pick up the Man of the Match honours.
Danube's tactics in the Gold finals against Valtorque were much more straightforward.
They began dismantling Valtorque right from the get-go, reducing them to just 24 runs off their eight overs, before bringing out their heavy hitters as they ran out winners, with 49 runs to their name.
Given that Danube have excellent pedigree on their side, that surely seemed to carry into the next match for Valtorque, who were cruelly unfortunate to score just 14 runs, after which Danube's batsmen put together a mammoth 68-run total, a win that confirmed their unquestionable dominance of the Challengers Cup.
Danube's win in large part came from Isuru, and he was rewarded for his efforts with the Player of the Tournament.
