Alubond Tigers held their nerves as they registered a close two-wicket victory over Noor Al Yemen to enter the final of the 44th Bukhatir Premier League 2018 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The tournament is organized by the Sharjah Cricket Council. In Tuesday's final, Alubond Tigers will take on Phoenix Medicines.
Chasing a relatively easier target of 197 to win, Alubond Tigers opener Waseem Rana looked rock solid to score a fine 56-ball 58 including six boundaries and two sixes to give his team a good start.
Mohammad Qasim (31, 55b, 2x4, 1x6) and Nasir Aziz (14, 30b, 1x4) put on 40 runs for the fourth wicket to further strengthen the progress. But the fall of a few wickets put Alubond Tigers in a state of bother before Amjad Gul and Fayyaz Ahmed scored an identical 14 to inch closer to the victory mark.
It was a patient 44-ball 15 not out from Asif Mumtaz and an unbeaten eight from Sultan Ahmed that ensured Alubond Tigers sneaked past the target in the 45th over.
Earlier batting first, Amjad Ali top scored with 31-ball 50 including seven boundaries and two sixes as Noor Al Yemen Group achieved 196 all out in 49.2 overs.
Shaiman Anwar and Gulraiz Sadaf scored 24 each while Waheed Ahmed scored 41 off 60 deliveries to help Noor Al Yemen post 196 in 49.2 overs.
For Alubond Tigers, Nasir Aziz was the pick of the bowlers claiming four wickets while Sultan Ahmed and Asif Mumtaz bagged two each.
