Oussama El Omari, CEO of RAK FTZ, said that the zone’s 360-degree approach to customer care and increased marketing and public relations activities have strengthened its market presence in the first six months of 2010.
The free zone registered 875 new companies in the first half.
RAK FTZ’s active international presence through sponsorship of and participation in key events and conferences and hosting of high-profile foreign delegations to the emirate have directly translated into an ever-increasing number of clients and investors from all corners of the globe, El Omari said.
“Our customers are the major stakeholders in our success, and we constantly strive to provide them with better business solutions, infrastructure, technology and support. We have a customer-centred approach and a ‘can do’ attitude,” he added.
The CEO said that the zone is trying its best to reach out to current and potential clients to make their experience with RAK FTZ convenient and rewarding.
El Omari said that in terms of business types or activity, the largest categories in RAK FTZ are Consultancy (188 companies- 21 per cent), Spare Parts (144 companies- 16 per cent) and Information Technology (120 companies -14 per cent). These were followed by Food Stuff (85 companies- 10 per cent), Textiles (62 companies- seven per cent), and Electronics (50 companies- six per cent). A number of other industries make up the rest.
RAK FTZ is continuously improving its products and services, making it quick and easy for clients to open up their operations within the UAE. It recently signed an memorandum of understanding with ServCorp, a globally recognised provider of serviced and virtual office facilities. As part of the agreement, existing ServCorp clients can also sign up with RAK FTZ for their expansion in the Middle East.

Maximising its efforts to bring business into the emirate, RAK FTZ takes part in a various conferences, road shows and events on a regular basis.
