Nepotism galore

The op-ed article by Manu Joseph ‘Nepotism in politics’ (KT/ April 15) is a true reflection of the current Indian politics but I would like to differ on few of his comments about the Indian heritage of grooming children.

The ancient Indian culture is all about a joint family wherein three generations often live together under a single roof and thus bring up their child with mutual respect and tolerance.

I fail to understand why the author has diluted his core topic of nepotism in politics with the other subject. Every politician in India is corrupt and need power to sustain the stature and safeguard wealth amassed during their tenure. It may not be a surprise if after a decade, Priyanka Gandhi’s children take center stage vying for the prime minister position.
