The feature 'Legacy of fatherhood' (Wknd, June 21) was a befitting tribute to all the fathers. I earnestly thank my father for playing a pivotal role in making me what I am today. Apart from being a loving, caring, and understanding dad, he virtues in me. Humility, hard work, honesty, respect for elders, and worldly wisdom, I learnt all these through my interactions with him. He wasn't highly educated but made sure that his kids developed an immense love for learning and went that extra mile to fulfil our wishes, dreams, and desires. He sheltered us with his selfless love and commitment. My brother and I are, and will be, eternally grateful to him and try to emulate and follow his legacy.

Truly, dads are unique. When I hear the word 'hero', I intuitively visualise my father who was my guiding angel, my confidante who made me aware of the importance of love, sharing and caring, magnanimity, empathy and optimism. No matter how old I am, for me, my dad will always be my hero No.1. -Jayashree Kulkarni, Australia
