Amazingly, Bollywood defies rampant inflation, which is now a global phenomenon, to register the astronomical turnover of nearly Rs30 billion for the third instalment of a popular franchise. If so much money is spent by cinegoers, and sometimes, when more than two films are released in a week, one wonders what percentage of a person’s salary goes into entertainment!

And this is India, where once during the period from the 60s to the 80s, people flocked to the cinema to forget grinding poverty. Today, with stress and anxiety stalking us, cinema, it seems is still the best escapist fare, for both the poor and rich, irrespective of the admission price.
