A video clip went viral showing students of a college in Thiruvanaikovil in India's Tamil Nadu cutting a cake with a machete.
Now, an inquiry into the incident has been launched by police citing it caused inconvenience to the people, although no complaint has been filed so far.
The incident came to the knowledge of the police after the 30-second long clip was widely circulated on a social media platform on Sunday.
According to reports in Times of India, the footage shows two students cutting a big cake with 'Royal II M Com' written on it using a machete, as other students cheered on. The cake was placed on the seat of a two-wheeler on a busy road.

A police officer said the students used a knife meant for cutting fish and held inquiries with college authorities regarding the incident. Nine students, who were part of the bash, were questioned and advised against conducting such acts in public places.
"Nuisance caused by college students is getting out of hand. They are seen driving in a rash manner on the Cauvery bridge and near Mambalasalai as well. Police and college administration should take serious measures to avoid untoward incidents," said a resident of Thiruvanaikoil.
