Mumbai doctors enter Guinness Book of World Records for removing 5.5kg tumour

She was referred to Sion Hospital after many hospitals refused to operate on her

Surgeons at Sion Hospital made it to the Guinness Book of World Records this week for the extraction of 'heaviest kidney tumour'.
The 5.5 kg tumour was 50 times heavier than a healthy kidney, said the surgeons to the Hindustan Times. The surgery was performed on Bihar resident Manju Devi  in November last year and a tumor, 31 cm wide and 19 cm long, was removed. 
The patient visited the hospital after being turned away from many hospitals. Her daily activities had come to a halt because of the huge tumor in her stomach.
"A CT scan revealed that the tumour had completely taken over the right kidney, compressed the liver and pushed the great vessels (large vein that carries deoxygenated blood from the lower and middle body into the right atrium of the heart), intestines and the pancreas towards the left side of the abdomen," said Dr Ajit Sawant, head of the urology department to the newspaper. 
The mass was removed after an eight-hour surgery and the patient recovered within a week.
