Heavy dust storm and rain hit the Indian capital Delhi and surrounding areas on Sunday evening, uprooting trees and affecting flights.

Delhi, Noida and Gurugram saw a sudden change in weather in the evening, after days of warning by the Indian weather bureau.

The rain and dust storm brought traffic to a halt on the roads of NCR, while flight operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport were put on hold, according to news agency ANI. Delhi Metro services, too, were hampered.

Winds of speeds 50-70 km/hr were recorded.
