Tom & Jerry. The cat and mouse dynamic duo are back and this time combine their classic animation with real-life characters in a Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988) type adventure. Both Tom and Jerry move to the big city to start new, separate lives with differing degrees of success. Jerry takes up residence in an upscale hotel much to the ire of the establishment’s manager (Rob Delaney). New employee, Chloe Grace Moretz, looks to impress the boss by eliminating the rodent problem. She hires a new-in-town cat to track down her target. Tom and Jerry’s feud is reignited. There are so far no ratings.
Skylines. Aliens have colonised Earth and have peacefully coexisted with humans for five years. Unfortunately that is all about to change and it is up to a human born with extraterrestrial superpowers (Lindsay Morgan) to beat the invaders. The only snag, she requires constant blood transfusions to stop her accelerated rate of ageing. Will she survive the 72-hour mission to the alien mothership to save humanity? Rotten tomatoes gives it 52%
Music. Ostensibly a musical, Music, directed by popstar Sia, looks to explore an unconventional family unit comprising a newly sober drug dealer (Kate Hudson) who is forced to look after her Autistic half sister (Maddie Ziegler) after the death of their grandmother. Initially unable to cope, neighbour Leslie Odom Jr. makes the journey a little easier as the trio bond and learn to rely on one another. Interspersed with fantasy musical numbers, Rotten Tomatoes gives it 25%
Fear of Rain
A psychological thriller, this one looks to be the grownup movie of the week. Rain (Madison Iseman) is a teenager suffering with Schizophrenia. Her parents, Harry Connick Jr. and Katherine Heigel, worry for her safety when she insists a neighbour is keeping a young girl trapped in the attic. When the neighbour turns out to be a teacher at school Rain’s life becomes intolerable. The educator looks to convince everyone it is all in Rain’s mind and her folks follows suit. In a tense Disturbia-esque (2007) dash to the free the hostage who may not even exist, Rain finds herself looking to escape the neighbour’s residence without being caught. There are so far no ratings.
